Janka Kovács read for Mas in History and English Literature at Eötvös Loránd University. She spent a semester at the University of Vienna as an Erasmus+ student (winter semester 2015–2016). After graduation, she joined the Doctoral School of History of Eötvös Loránd University, working under the supervision of Lilla Krász. She earned her doctorate in 2022 with a PhD dissertation entitled A lélek betegségeinek reprezentációi a magyarországi tudományosságban, 1850–1830 (The Representations of Mental Illnesses in Hungarian Scientific Discourses, 1750–1830).
